Demolition in Central Kentucky

Done Right the First Time

Tearing a building down is the easy part. Doing it without damaging the yard, the neighbor's property or the utilities, and leaving a site somebody can actually build on, is the job.

Pistol Ridge Land Services takes down houses, barns, garages, sheds and outbuildings across central Kentucky. A lot of our demolition work is fire damage: homes that burned and have to come out before the family or the insurance company can move forward. We've pulled burned houses down around standing stone chimneys, cleaned basements out to the walls and left the slab swept and ready.

We bring full-size excavators with thumbs for the tear-down and sorting, and tracked skid steers for the cleanup, so the site ends up clean instead of half finished.

What's Included

What we tear down

  • Houses, including fire-damaged and storm-damaged homes
  • Barns, tobacco barns and farm buildings
  • Garages, sheds and outbuildings
  • Concrete slabs, footers and foundations
  • Basement clean-outs after a tear-down
  • Site cleanup and grading once the structure is gone

Fire-damaged homes

A burned house is hazardous, it attracts trouble, and it usually has a deadline attached. We work the structure down in order, separate what we can, and clean the footprint so you're left with a slab, a basement or bare ground, depending on your plan to rebuild.

What happens after the building is down

Demolition is usually step one. Once the structure is out we can clean out the basement, grade the lot, or go straight into site prep and a pad for whatever comes next.

Questions

Demolition FAQ

How much does it cost to tear down a house?

It depends on the size of the house, what it's built from, whether there's a basement, how close it is to other buildings and what has to happen with the debris. We walk the site and give you a quote for your house, not a guess from a chart.

Can you demolish a house that burned?

Yes. Fire-damaged homes are a big part of our demolition work. We take the structure down, clean out the debris and leave the slab or basement clear.

Do I need a permit to demolish a building?

Rules depend on your city or county, and utilities have to be disconnected before a tear-down. Check with your local building office and utility providers, and we'll talk through what your job needs when we look at it.

Can you leave part of the structure, like a chimney or a slab?

Yes. If you want the slab, a stone chimney or a foundation wall kept, tell us up front and we'll work around it.
