Building Pads for Homes, Shops & Barns
House, shop, barn and garage pads built level and solid, with the gravel approach to match.
Done Right the First Time
A slab is only as good as what's under it. A pad that's level, well compacted and drained is what keeps a shop floor from cracking and a garage apron from settling.
Pistol Ridge Land Services builds pads for houses, shops, pole barns and garages across central Kentucky. We cut the high side, fill the low side, compact as we go and top it with stone so your concrete crew or building crew can go right to work.
We also build the gravel approach and drive up to it, because a pad you can't get a concrete truck to isn't much use.

Pad work we do
- House and garage pads
- Shop and pole barn pads
- Cut, fill and compaction
- Stone base and gravel topping
- Gravel approaches and drives to the pad
- Drainage shaped around the pad
Getting the pad right
We start with where the building sits on the lot and where the water goes. The pad gets built a little larger than the building, compacted in lifts and sloped so water sheds off instead of soaking in at the edge.
Built for the building
A metal shop on a slab, a pole barn and a house with a garage all ask different things of a pad. Tell us what's going on it and who's building it, and we'll build the pad to suit. Usually it comes with site prep and grading on the same trip.

Building Pads FAQ
How much does a building pad cost?
Size, how much cut and fill the lot needs and how much stone goes on top set the cost. A pad on nearly flat ground is a different job from one on a hillside. We'll look and quote.
How big should the pad be?
Bigger than the building. A few extra feet on every side gives the crew room to work and keeps the edge of the slab off the soft shoulder.
Do you build the gravel drive to the pad too?
Yes. We build gravel approaches and drives so trucks can reach the pad.
