Trenching for Water, Electric & Utility Lines
Clean trenches for water, electric and utility lines, dug to the right depth and put back the way we found the yard.
Done Right the First Time
A trench looks simple until the line freezes because it wasn't deep enough, or the yard settles into a ditch because it wasn't backfilled right.
Pistol Ridge Land Services digs trenches for water lines, electric service and other utilities across central Kentucky. We run compact excavators that fit through a gate and track across a lawn without tearing it up more than the job requires.
We've set meter pits and utility vaults and trenched service lines to new homes.

Trenching we do
- Water line trenches to homes, barns and waterers
- Electric service and conduit trenches
- Meter pits and utility vaults
- Drainage ditches and swales
- Backfill and compaction
- Grading and cleanup over the trench line
Depth matters
Water lines have to sit below the frost line or they freeze, and electric lines have their own depth requirements. We dig to what your plumber, electrician or utility calls for and keep the bottom of the trench clean so the line beds properly.
Working with your other trades
We coordinate with the plumber, electrician or utility so the trench is open when they're ready and closed up when they're done. If the line is going to a new build, we can handle the site prep and pad at the same time.

Trenching FAQ
How much does trenching cost?
Length, depth, soil and access set the cost, and rock changes it quickly. Tell us where the line starts, where it ends and what's going in it, and we'll quote it.
How deep do you dig a water line trench?
Deep enough to keep the line below the frost line, to the depth your plumber or water utility requires.
Will you put my yard back?
Yes. We backfill, compact and grade over the trench. A fresh trench line settles a little over the first few rains, and that's normal.
Do utilities get marked first?
Yes. Kentucky 811 has to be called before digging so public utilities are marked. Private lines are the owner's to point out.
