Lot Clearing & Land Clearing in Bardstown, KY
Building lots, acreage and farm edges around Bardstown cleared of trees, honeysuckle and brush, with the stumps pulled and the ground left ready for your builder or your tractor.
Clearing Lots for Nelson County Builds
Nelson County keeps adding houses, and the easy, open lots went first. What is left around Bardstown is often the wooded piece, the back corner of a farm or a tract so thick with bush honeysuckle that you cannot see the stakes. Your builder wants a clean site and a way in. Your lender wants a start date. The trees are in the way of both.
Pistol Ridge Land Services travels to Bardstown from our base in Taylor County to clear lots and acreage. Trey works the site with a John Deere excavator with a thumb and tracked skid steers. Trees are laid down where they will not hurt anything, stumps are pulled from the house site and the drive, and the brush is piled or dealt with the way we agreed in the quote.
After that, the lot does not sit and wait on another contractor. The same crew strips the topsoil, cuts the site to grade, builds the house or shop pad and puts in a gravel drive the concrete trucks can use. You get a lot your builder can start on, with the shade trees you picked still standing around it.

What to Know Before Clearing in Nelson County
Bluegrass limestone and knob country
Around Bardstown the ground is rolling Bluegrass limestone with clay on top, and rock can show up shallow almost anywhere. Stumps pull well here, but the hole sometimes shows a ledge your builder needs to know about, and we will point it out. South and west toward New Haven and Boston the county turns to wooded knobs along the Rolling Fork. Lots there are steeper and heavier with timber, and the clearing has to leave enough trees to hold the slope.
Honeysuckle, hedge and the trees worth saving
Bush honeysuckle has taken over a lot of woods edges across central Kentucky, and it turns up on lots around Bardstown, Cox's Creek and Bloomfield. It is thick but shallow rooted, and a skid steer and an excavator thumb make short work of it. Old farm lines add hedge apple and cedar. Under all that there is often a good oak, walnut or sugar maple that will make the yard. Flag the keepers before we start. We keep the machines and the fill dirt off their roots, because a tree can look fine on clearing day and die two summers later from packed soil.
Zoning, burning and close neighbors
If you are clearing to build, talk early with the Joint City-County Planning Commission of Nelson County, which handles zoning, about what your lot needs. On burning, Kentucky generally allows natural growth from land clearing to be burned on the site where it grew, subject to local rules. On a lot with houses close by, a burn pile may not be practical or welcome, so what happens to the brush is something to talk through with Trey when he looks at the job. Check with the local fire department before any burn.

Bardstown Land Clearing FAQ
Who clears building lots in Bardstown, KY?
Pistol Ridge Land Services clears lots and acreage in Bardstown and across Nelson County. Trey takes out the trees and brush with an excavator and tracked skid steers, pulls the stumps and can go on to grade the lot and build the pad. Call (270) 272-8739 to have him look at yours.
Can you remove bush honeysuckle from my property in Nelson County?
Yes. We pull it out by the roots with the excavator and skid steers and pile it. Honeysuckle sprouts from seed in the soil for a few seasons, so plan on mowing or spot treating what comes back. Pulling it, instead of cutting it, takes the crowns out so the old plants do not resprout.
Can you clear a lot close to other houses in Bardstown?
Yes. Tight lots are where an excavator with a thumb earns its keep, because a tree can be held and laid down where we want it. We keep the machines on your side of the line, so have the corners marked. Burning is often not an option next to neighbors, and we plan for that in the quote.
Do you clear land and build the pad and driveway in Nelson County?
Yes. Clearing, stump pulling, cut and fill, the building pad and the gravel drive can all be done by our crew, one after the other. That saves you lining up separate contractors, and it means the clearing is done to fit the pad and the drive from the start.
